9/97(reso%consti)Vk <br /> RESOLUTION NO.97.131 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br /> FLORIDA, TO THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE <br /> OF FLORIDA IN SUPPORT AMENDING THE LAW <br /> TO GIVE NON-CHARTER COUNTIES THE RIGHT TO <br /> PETITION FOR INITIATIVES. <br /> WHEREAS, Indian River County feels that the right to petition for initiatives is an <br /> important civic right,which charter counties have automatically;and <br /> WHEREAS, Indian River County is a non-charter county and would like to see <br /> non-charter counties have this same right;and <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br /> COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Board urges the <br /> Legislature of the State of Florida to amend the law to give non-charter counties the <br /> same right to petition for initiatives as charter counties have. <br /> The resolution was moved for adoption by Commissioner Ginn , and <br /> the motion was seconded by Commissioner Ti ppi n —, and, upon being put to a <br /> vote,the vote was as follows: <br /> Chairman Carolyn K.
