9/97(r*sMwns6)Vk <br /> RESOLUTION NO.97- 134 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br /> FLORIDA, TO THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE <br /> OF FLORIDA IN SUPPORT OF CLARIFYING THE <br /> OBLIGATION OF THE STATE TO PROVIDE <br /> ARTICLE V FUNDING FOR THE CRIMINAL COURT <br /> SYSTEM. <br /> WHEREAS, Indian River County feels it would be fairer to all its taxpayers to <br /> have the law amended to clarify that the obligation of funding the criminal justice <br /> system should be by the state and not by the counties; and <br /> WHEREAS, Indian River County feels that it should be constitutionally required <br /> that the state fund the criminal court system sufficiently; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br /> COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Board urges the <br /> Legislature of the State of Florida to pass an amendment to the state constitution to <br /> change the wording of Article V to require that the state be required to fund the criminal <br /> justice system. <br /> The resolution was moved for adoption by Commissioner Gi nn and the motion <br /> was seconded by Commissioner1l pp nand, upon being put to a vote, the vote was as <br /> follows: <br /> Chairman Carolyn K. Eggert Aye <br /> Vice Chairman John W.Tippin Aye <br /> Commissioner Kenneth R. Macht Absent <br /> Commissioner Caroline D.
