Mr. Block believed they had adequate ability to expand <br />because not everything would change in 5 years. The biggest <br />changes will occur in the uniform area. <br />Commissioner Wodtke asked if the Jail Committee concurred <br />with the concept that half of this site is going to be used for <br />other than jail facilities, and Chairman Lyons explained that he <br />had not specifically asked that question of the committee <br />members, but they are aware of the plans to locate the Sheriff's <br />Administration complex at the jail site. At one time they <br />considered building the courtrooms out there, but they have <br />pretty much abandoned that idea. <br />Administrator Wright believed that we never envisioned the <br />jail taking up the entire 20 acres. <br />Mr. Block returned to the diagram of the building, showing <br />how various departments could be expanded from the inside out, <br />using a 5 -year program for each of the divisions. <br />Commissioner Scurlock felt we have to make a decision about <br />putting 911 out there, but Mr. Block felt that would depend on <br />what elements are in there. <br />Chairman Lyons pointed out that those people are isolated <br />and needed restroom facilities, etc., because they cannot leave <br />their stations during their time on duty.
