That would restrict the C-5 trucks which they use because <br />they would have to load them so that they do not exceed 33 tons, <br />and this would be a hardship on them.. <br />Chairman Lyons felt that if our bridges won't stand their <br />loads, they will have to arrange for smaller loads until we can <br />do something about the bridges <br />Administrator Wright believed what the Public Works Director <br />is saying is that the maximum tonnage the bridges can carry is 40 <br />tons, and Director Davis confirmed that most of the bridges are <br />similar, and the operating rating, the maximum rating, is <br />basically no posting. <br />Commissioner Scurlock asked if Mr. Davis had a recommenda- <br />tion that is reasonable for the citrus people, meets our <br />liabilities, and is one that he feels comfortable with. <br />Director Davis confirmed that he was comfortable with the <br />recommendation in his memo. <br />Commissioner Bird questioned the rationale for using Lateral <br />"A" which has eleven bridges as the main north south route when <br />Kings Highway only has one bridge for the same distance. <br />Commissioner Wodtke explained that all the bridges on <br />Lateral "A" (66th Ave.) but one are actually on the side streets <br />and are used to go east and west. The citrus haulers can go over <br />any of these bridges when their trucks are empty, but when they <br />are full, they will have to take a different route. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Scurlock, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Bird, to adopt <br />staff recommendation set out in memo dated <br />December 9, 1985. <br />Doug Bournique of the Indian River Citrus League asked if <br />this would include Kings Highway as Golden River wanted 58th <br />Avenue included from SR 60 to CR 510.
