FEB 12 198 <br />BOOK 6 3 f" �E 6 ?4 <br />February 11, 1986 <br />SUMMARY OF ACTIONS <br />TRANSPORTATION PLANNING COMMITTEE <br />1. Intersection Study - CR 512 at CR 510 (Project <br />T84-10-01) <br />Committee unanimously approved staff recommendation.to <br />maintain existing conditions at the intersection since <br />additional traffic control is not warranted at this <br />time. <br />2. Intersection Study - 27th Avenue at 8th Street <br />(Project T85-03-03) <br />Committee unanimously approved staff recommendation <br />to signalize the intersection as soon as possible and <br />to construct left -turn lanes on the 8th Street <br />approaches. Funding for the traffic signal is budgeted <br />for FY85-86. The left -turn lanes may be placed on <br />the Transportation Improvement Program. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Wodtke, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously accepted <br />the recommendations of the Transportation Planning <br />Committee. <br />Discussion ensued regarding various traffic trouble spots <br />around the county, i.e., turning left at 8th Street and U.S.1, <br />the 23rd Street crossing of U.S.1, and the dogleg on CR 510 south <br />of the 510/512 intersection. The City project on 6th Avenue <br />which has been going on for a considerable length of time was <br />also mentioned. <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL <br />Commissioner Wodtke noted that at the meeting last week, <br />they heard the announcement of the recent layoff by Piper, and <br />they -are going to try to schedule, with Pipers concurrence, a <br />meeting of the EDC and Piper, the City of Vero Beach and the <br />Chamber of Commerce, to discuss various issues relating to their <br />situation. He just wished the Board to be aware that activity <br />will be taking place. <br />56 <br />
