He would like to know why his cost of living hasn't <br />increased any more. <br />Administrator Wright noted that he is not saying it hasn't; <br />what he is saying is that a job is worth a certain amount of <br />money. Three years ago the Board adopted a policy of saying <br />these jobs are worth a particular amount of money, and the Board <br />now has authorized another study to see if adjustments should be <br />made. <br />Mr. Owens stated that he was a little leery of these people <br />who keep coming in to make studies as he did not believe he has <br />benefited from any of them. <br />Commissioner Bird stated that he has not seen any study that <br />did anything but recommend increases in pay scales in certain <br />areas, and the Chairman agreed that generally overall, it has <br />increased the pay scales. He asked Mrs. Hoder if we have a time <br />period in which the county has to act on these grievances, i.e., <br />some time frame for an ultimate answer from the top man who will <br />make the decision. <br />General Services Director Dean felt the answer to that under <br />the personnel rules and regulations is no, but now that we have a <br />contract in place, there is a formal grievance procedure that has <br />to be followed. <br />Administrator Wright pointed out that there was a grievance <br />procedure before, but Director Dean felt the one now is different <br />than the one we had. <br />Chairman Scurlock asked what now would be the maximum time <br />for someone to get a final answer if they start through the <br />process. <br />Mr. Scates answered that the maximum time to file would be <br />five days, and there are a specific number of days between the <br />succeeding steps. <br />Chairman Scurlock hoped it won't take a year to get an <br />answer, and Mr. Scates stated that it will not; there are time <br />15 <br />FEB19 19 6 MoK 63. 705 <br />F.� <br />
