PnUE 723 <br />PROCLAMATION - MENTALLY HANDICAPPED WEEK <br />Chairman Scurlock read aloud the following Proclamation <br />stating that March 6-8, 1986 is to be officially observed as <br />Mentally Handicapped Week in Indian River County. The Chairman <br />presented same to Frank Julian representing the Knights of <br />Columbus. <br />ia <br />PROCLAMATION <br />PROCLAMATION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, DESIGNATING <br />MARCH 6 THROUGH MARCH 8, 1986 AS <br />MENTALLY HANDICAPPED WEEK <br />WHEREAS, the Knights of Columbus, Vero Beach Council <br />5629, .will be conducting its annual Tootsie Roll Drive to help <br />the handicapped and mentally retarded citizens, on March 6 <br />through March 8, 1986= and <br />WHEREAS, proceeds from the donations will be used by <br />the Knights of Columbus for local programs and activities such as <br />the mentally retarded workshop and special olympics program; and <br />WHEREAS, on a nationwide basis, the Knights of Columbus <br />Councils will be conducting, similar events during the same time <br />span; and <br />WHEREAS, with the help of many friends and local <br />organizations who have volunteered to assist the Knights of <br />Columbus in this year's endeavor, it is anticipated that the <br />proceeds generated will be far in excess of last year's total; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, it is altogether fitting and proper to <br />officially recognize this worthy cause, and to help create a <br />public awareness and appreciation for all those who will be <br />"aproned and canistered" on Marc:. 6 through March 8, 1986 and <br />most of all, for all those who will contribute what they can from <br />their hearts and pockets to assist the mentally handicapped; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, assembled in <br />regular session this 26th day of February, 1986, that March 6 <br />through March 8, 1986 be officially observed as <br />MENTALLY HANDICAPPED WEEK <br />in Indian'River County, and that special recognition be given to <br />the dates of March 6 through March 8, 1986 in support of this <br />worthwhile endeavor. <br />Attest: <br />FREDA WRIGIIT, 'lerk <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />10 <br />DON C.
