Planner Challacombe noted there are many people who want to <br />take a pepper tree or other trash tree down to a stump and they <br />do not need a permit, and Commissioner Bird noted that if they <br />want to bring in the heavy equipment, then they have to get a <br />permit, and this was confirmed. <br />Mr. Martin stated that he did agree a tree removal permit is <br />needed for protection of valuable trees, but he felt there should <br />not be a double standard. In the City they fine you if you don't <br />take pepper trees out, and the County fines you if you do. <br />Discussion ensued regarding this particular violation, and <br />Commissioner Wodtke asked about the cost of the permit, which is <br />$45. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Wodtke, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird to accept the voluntary contribution <br />of $100 to remedy the land clearing violation of Herman <br />Lewis, this amount also to suffice for the after - <br />the -fact permit. <br />Commissioner Lyons agreed there is a need to get this <br />clarified, and the Chairman believed when we rewrite an <br />ordinance, we should try to determine just what the actual result <br />of its implementation will be before we proceed with it. <br />Director Keating agreed and stated that staff will schedule <br />a workshop to inform everyone. <br />The Chairman felt that this education probably needs to be <br />done annually as new people keep coming in. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION. <br />It was voted on and carried unanimously. <br />SOUTH COUNTY FIRE DISTRICT <br />Commissioner Lyons advised that he had planned to put on the <br />agenda for next week a meeting of the South County Fire District <br />37 <br />MAR 12 1986 Boa 63 rr, L 870 <br />L_ <br />
