this type and size, and Assistant Director Barton stated that <br />they did not find anything out of line in 1982 and still do not. <br />Commissioner Wodtke wished to know if staff was able to <br />separate the cost for the water operation, and Assistant Director <br />Barton advised that GDU did provide the actual cost of operating <br />each system. <br />Chairman Scurlock asked if staff checked for any possible <br />duplication, and Assistant Director Barton noted that staff did <br />not go into their actual books. <br />Commissioner Wodtke addressed the average usage figure of <br />5,000 gallons, and Mr. Wheeling stated that in 1982, the usage <br />was slightly higher than 5,000, but he used the 5,000 gallon <br />number because Mr. Morris indicated that usage has gone down <br />subsequent to 1982. Assistant Director Barton confirmed that <br />this is in line with what we are experiencing with our system. <br />Commissioner Bird inquired about GDU's ability to come back <br />and request another rate increase after we taken action tonight. <br />Assistant Director Barton advised that they can do it at any <br />time, but they would have to bring their operating expenses, <br />etc., up to date and use a different test year. <br />Mr. Wheeling informed the Board that GDU has no intention of <br />filing another rate case in 1986 in the sewer area if they <br />receive the full rate increase tonight. <br />Chairman Scurlock opened the floor to the public and asked <br />anyone who wished to give any testimony to stand up and be sworn <br />in. About thirteen people stood up and were sworn in by Attorney <br />Vitunac. <br />William Davenport, Sr., representing the Vero Shores <br />Homeowners, came before the Board and confirmed that he was under <br />oath.
