Public Works Director Jim Davis explained that <br />the request from the PTA came at the same time staff had .. <br />scheduled their recommendations for the Board's action today, and <br />staff is recommending approval of the traffic light at Citrus <br />Elementary. <br />Chairman Scurlock felt in that case that the Board could <br />review the matter today and send the PTA a letter advising them <br />of what action was taken. <br />Director Davis reviewed the following memo dated 3/19/86: <br />TO: The Honorable Members of ' DATE: March 19, 1986 FILE: <br />the Board of County Commissioners <br />THROUGH: <br />Michael Wright, <br />County Administrator SUBJECT: <br />Transportation Planning <br />Committee Recommendations _ <br />of March 11, 1986 <br />FROM: REFERENCES: <br />James W. Davis, P.E., <br />Public Works Director <br />DESCRIPTION RM CONDITIONS <br />'During the March 11, 1986 meeting of the Transportation Planning Committee, <br />the Committee unanimously recommended the following: <br />1) Signalize the intersection of 4th. Street and 27th Ave. (CR607), <br />construct a left turn lane at the 4th Street approaches to the inter- <br />section at 27th Avenue, and improve pedestrian access at this inter- <br />section due to the existence of Citrus Elementary School on the <br />Southwest corner of the intersection. <br />2) Expedite the installation of four school beacons at the following <br />elementary school <br />Osceola Elementary <br />Vero Beach Elementary <br />Thompson Elementary <br />Fellsmere Elementary <br />The installation of these beacons is currently scheduled for late FY <br />86/87. <br />During the Feb. 10, 1986 TRC meeting, signalization and 8th Street <br />widening was approved at 8th Street and 27th Avenue. <br />P39 <br />
