CASTLE <br /> Safe Families Program <br /> Final Report to Children's Services Advisory Committee-Indian River County(CSAC) <br /> Fourth Quarter 2014-2015 Grant(as of 9/30/2015) <br /> Grant Amount: $50,000 <br /> Funds Used as of 6/30/2015: $50,000 <br /> Total Children Served as of 9/30/2015: 211 children served through the 4`h Quarter. <br /> Cost Per Child: $236.97 <br /> Focus Areas Addressed: Parental Support and Education <br /> Taxonomy#: PH-6100.3300 <br /> Program description: Safe Families is a home-based, comprehensive education program where parents <br /> with minor children are able to remain together. Adults learn the skills necessary to become strong <br /> parents, leading to safe children and long-term stability for families Through long-term (up to one year) <br /> intensive (at least weekly) visits from parent educators, families learn positive parenting techniques and <br /> family-friendly role modeling. <br /> Program is designed to: Teach families to reduce risk factors associated with abuse and neglect, and to <br /> increase the protective factors associated with non-abusive, caring and stable families. <br /> Collaboration: Devereux CBC; Children's Home Society/Family Preservation Services; Healthy <br /> Families; Department of Children and Families; Hibiscus Children's Center; Harvest Food Center. <br /> Safe Families Indian River Countv-2014-2015 Fourth Ouarter Results <br /> Outcome# 1: Reduce to 5%the number of families using parenting behaviors that put their children at <br /> risk, for families enrolled in the Safe Families Program for at least 90 days, as measured by a <br /> risk/protective factor inventory administered at the beginning and end of services. Baseline: 93%of <br /> enrolled parents, at enrollment,use parenting behaviors that put their children at risk. <br /> Result: Through the 4`" Quarter, 17 of 17 families (100%) did improve their parenting skills. (The goal is <br /> 95%of families) <br /> Outcome#2: Increase to 90%the number of parents who use positive family communication to teach <br /> and discipline their children and engage the family in cooperative decision making, for families enrolled <br /> in the Safe Families Program for at least 90 days, as measured by a risk/protective factor inventory <br /> administered at the beginning and end of services.
