The <br /> Village consists of residential assessment and group home facilities in a beautiful home-like <br /> setting in Vero Beach. At our Village abused, neglected and abandoned children receive <br /> multiple services by highly trained staff to address all of their many and very serious needs. <br /> Hibiscus Children's Village was founded to provide children a safe haven that is built on love, <br /> nurturing, encouragement with all efforts to help boys and girls have a bright, successful future. <br /> This program is designed to: The Hibiscus Career Pathways to Independence Program was <br /> designed to provide foster youth ages 13 — 17 at the Hibiscus Children's Village in Indian River <br /> County with the wraparound services they need to graduate high school or receive a GED and be <br /> prepared for college or advanced training. In addition to educational support, youth 15 - 17 are <br /> involved in career exploration, testing and assessments related to career interests, self-esteem, <br /> and work related personality, pre-employment training, multiple internships in local businesses, <br /> mentoring, and weekly structured seminars on topics including completing college applications <br /> and job applications, resume writing, assistance transitioning into independent living, and <br /> financial management and monthly Career Club to reflect and learn from experiences. The <br /> program is structured to promote academic success, support struggling students, increase <br /> education and learning experiences, think critically about the future, and build skills for <br /> adulthood. We know how important it is to get a high school diploma to get a job and be <br /> exposed to wide range of learning experiences. Just like a family with a struggling student, <br /> Hibiscus and the community are working together alongside foster youth engaging them to stay <br /> in school and open doors of opportunity for a successful adulthood. Foster youth receive adult <br /> group mentors, adult guidance, direction and counseling - before they turn 18 - as to possible <br /> work, career and continuing education options available to them.
