Baird, County Administrator <br /> DEPARTMENT HEAD CONCURRENCE <br /> Stan Boling, P <br /> THROUGH: Sasan Rohani, AICP s �' <br /> Chief, Long-Range Planning <br /> FROM: Bill Schutt,AICP 3 d <br /> Senior Economic Development Planner, Long Range Planning <br /> DATE: January 5, 2016 <br /> RE: Consideration of Continuing the Local Jobs Grant 10% Incentive Bonus for <br /> Businesses in the "Enterprise Zone" Area <br /> It is requested that the following information be given formal consideration by the Board of County <br /> Commissioners (BCC) at its regular meeting of January 12, 2016. <br /> DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br /> Since 2005, Indian River County and the City of Vero Beach have operated a joint Enterprise Zone <br /> that includes the Gifford community along with surrounding areas within unincorporated Indian <br /> River County and the City of Vero Beach,including the Vero Beach Municipal Airport(see map on <br /> next page). Consistent with Florida Statutes, Section 290.016,the County's Enterprise Zone and all <br /> Enterprise Zones within the state terminated with the sun-setting of the Enterprise Zone Act on <br /> December 31, 2015. <br /> On October 13,2015,the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners discussed local steps <br /> involved with sun-setting the Enterprise Zone.At that time,the Board directed the County Attorney <br /> to advertise for a Public Hearing for an ordinance sun-setting the Indian River County/City of Vero <br /> Beach Enterprise Zone Development Agency established per Section 103.09, Indian River County <br /> Code of Ordinances, and eliminating the Enterprise Zone from Section 207.02 of the Indian River <br /> County Code of Ordinances.The Board also directed Community Development Department staff to <br /> come back to a future Board meeting to review the current local economic development incentives <br /> specifically available to businesses located within the zone and possible continuation of those special <br /> 1 <br /> 220 <br />
