Davis, P. y REFERENCES: <br />Public Works Director <br />The following attachments have been prepared by the Public Vbrks <br />Division Staff to assist in the Local Option Gas Tax discussion process: <br />1) Table I - Revenue Projections based on current Fuel Constm*tion <br />in Indian River County - This table projects the revenue to the <br />County and all municipalities. <br />2) Program of Capital Road Improvements - April 1986 to June 1988. f, <br />3) Map of Florida showing various East :Coast Counties Local Option <br />Gas Tax Adoption - Of the 15 counties surveyed.,.6 have a 6� I=, <br />1 has 5,� LOGT, 5 have 40 LOGT, 3 have 2� LOGT or less. Three of <br />the above are considering•rai.sing to 6� LOGT. <br />4) Memo dated 3/17/86 from Staff to Board of County Commissioners <br />describing revenue shortfall. <br />5) Copy Of *Minutes from March, 1986 Transportation Planning Commit- <br />tee. <br />6) Sample letter sent to all cities dated April 1, 1986, which <br />proposes distribution formula.to remain as currently exists - No <br />negative response has been received. <br />7) Copies of- 4/27/86 Vero Beach Press Journal chart -on Gasoline <br />Consumption and Editorial. <br />8) Copy of 20 Year Long Range Capital Road Improvement Program. <br />In order to fund the approximate 61 Million Dollar shortfall in the 20 <br />year C.I.P., staff recommends increasing the L.O.G.T. to 6�. <br />Director Davis advised that increasing the tax to 64 would <br />provide an additional 24 million to the 20 Year Long Range <br />Capital Road Improvement Program. <br />Chairman Scurlock wished to point out that it requires the <br />vote of at least four Commissioners to pass this ordinance. He <br />believed that in order to get matching funds from the DOT, you <br />are now required to levy at least 44. <br />Director Davis confirmed this and noted that as the DOT <br />priority list is developed for each district, those counties <br />57 <br />MAY 7 1986 BOOK 0 FADE -343 <br />
