rr,- I <br />MAY 21 1966 BOOK ��� Fr.,E543 <br />DISCUSS HIRING OF LOBBYIST <br />Commissioner Bowman brought up the advisability of hiring a <br />lobbyist to speak in Tallahassee on issues of concern to the Tri <br />County Council of Local Governments, and Board members asked if <br />discussion -on this could wait until we have more information on <br />how it would work and who would pay for it, etc. <br />Commissioner Bird agreed this information is needed and did <br />not believe there was really very much enthusiasm for this. <br />Commissioner Bird suggested we hold off on this matter and <br />then when some particular issue arises, we could consider hiring <br />a lobbyist who specializes in that particular area. <br />Commissioner Bowman agreed with that concept. <br />DISCUSS OVERPOPULATION AT JAIL <br />Commissioner Lyons noted that the number of jail inmates has <br />risen astronomically lately, and he is working with staff and <br />with the Judges to see if we can't get the pressure off the Jail <br />somehow. He would like to reconvene the Fast Track Committee. <br />DISCUSS TRAIN WHISTLES <br />Commissioner Wodtke'advised that he has had some letters <br />come in asking for further discussion on limiting train whistles. <br />He has done some research on how they handle this in surrounding <br />counties and would like to ask permission to utilize the <br />Attorney's office to look at some concerns re liabilities. <br />It was agreed to schedule this for the meeting of June 4th. <br />DOCUMENTS TO BE MADE A PART OF THE RECORD <br />Interim Assistance Agreement with the Secretary of Health, <br />Education and Welfare, having been fully executed and received, <br />as approved at the Regular Meeting of July 24, 1985, has been put <br />on file in the Office of Clerk to the Board. <br />Contract with R & R Security, Inc., for prisoner transport, <br />having been fully executed and received, as approved at the <br />86 <br />
