Stericycle Settlement <br />BACKGROUND. <br />ATTORNEY <br />Stericycle, Inc. ("Stericycle") is an Illinois company that provides regulated medical waste management <br />services and pharmaceutical returns services to medical offices, hospitals and other health care providers. <br />In July 2013, Jennifer Perez filed a second amended complaint against Stericycle alleging Stericycle <br />improperly increased the service price to various governmental customers beginning in January 1, 2003. <br />Ms. Perez included claims on behalf of several states, including the State of Florida. In October 2015, a <br />settlement of the case was reached in which Stericycle agreed to pay $28.5 million, including attorneys' <br />fees. Indian River County has been identified as a local government that is entitled to participate in the <br />settlement. The Florida Attorney General has sent Indian River County a check in the amount of <br />$9,053.32.
