Wednesday, June 4, 1986 <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, <br />Florida, met in Regular Session at the County Commission <br />Chambers, 1840 25th Street, Vero Beach, Florida, on Wednesday, <br />June 4, 1986, at 9:00 o'clock A.M. Present were Don C. Scurlock, <br />Jr., Chairman; Patrick B. Lyons, Vice Chairman; Richard N. Bird; <br />Margaret C. Bowman; and William C. Wodtke, Jr. Also present were <br />L. S. "Tommy" Thomas, Acting County Administrator; Charles P. <br />Vitunac, Attorney to the Board of County Commissioners; Joseph <br />Baird, OMB Director; and Virginia Hargreaves, Deputy Clerk. <br />The Chairman called the meeting to order. <br />Reverend Robert Dickinson gave the invocation, and Commis- <br />sioner Bird led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br />ADDITIONS TO THE AGENDA <br />Commissioner Bird advised that he wished to add an item in <br />regard to out -of -County travel for himself and Attorney Barkett <br />to attend a meeting of the Governor and Cabinet on June 17th in <br />regard to obtaining funds for the Howell/Chapman beachfront <br />acquisition. <br />Attorney Vitunac believed that date may have been changed to <br />July 1st. <br />It was agreed to add this to the Consent Agenda as Item K. <br />Commissioner Wodtke wished to have out -of -County travel <br />authorized so he could attend the Army Corps of Engineers meeting <br />in Jacksonville in regard to beach preservation. He also <br />requested the addition of an item in regard to appointing an <br />additional member to the Beach Preservation 8 Restoration <br />Committee. <br />Chairman Scurlock wished to add an information item de- <br />veloped by staff on a recent bid which we added as an emergency <br />item last week and approved and for which he now believed we have <br />insufficient funds for him to be able to sign the contract.
