Baird, County Administrator 2E - From: Vincent Burke P.E., Director of Utility Services® Prepared By: Terry Southard, Operations Manager Subject: IRC Bid No.: 2015047 Project: South Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility Painting BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS: The painting project for the exterior of the South Regional Waste Water Treatment Facility (WWTF) was awarded by the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) to West Florida Maintenance, Inc. on September 15, 2015, in the amount of $32,000.00. While the contractor was preparing to start the project, they noticed that some of the pipe connections and steel supports are in need of more extensive preparation before painting. This preparation work is outside of the specification within the bid. At this time, staff is requesting Change Order No. 1 in the amount of $9,750.00 for sandblasting and additional primer to ensure proper adhesion of exterior paint on the properly prepared surface. Such preparation is needed to achieve a 5 year warranty for both labor (painting contractor) and materials (paint manufacturer). The Facility renovations provided through Change Order No. l will increase the contract total to S41,750.00 which is still under the second lowest bidder of $54,354.00. FUNDING: Funding for the South Regional Wastewater Facility Painting Project account is available from the Utilities Renewal and Replacement budget within the Operating Fund. Operating Fund revenues are derived from water and sewer sales.
