THOMAS <br />VIA: TERRANCE G. <br />FROM: JEFFREY A. <br />/% <br />PIN ', <br />�/ <br />BOONE " <br />�v <br />DATE: JUNE 16, 1986 <br />SUBJECT: 12th STREET WATER MAIN -FROM OLD DIXIE HIGHWAY <br />TO 6th AVENUE/AND COMMERCE AVENUE FROM 12th <br />STREET TO 10th STREET <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Proposed roadway improvements, by rhe Public Works Division, will <br />require replacement of existing transite water mains along 12th <br />Street from Old Dixie Highway to 6th,Avenue. Anticipated <br />increases in demand along the 12th Street corridor would <br />eventually warrant upsizing the existing water mains From 8 and <br />10 inch pipe to 12 and 16 it-- 4 -.-.e. Since the proposed roadwav <br />improvements demand immeOocation of the existing transite <br />water mains which would withstand being subjected to <br />const_ru}_- in the in::ta�iate area, the Utilities Division <br />:ese water Mains be upsized in conjunction with this` <br />.(�:ation to facilitate the anticipated increases in demand. <br />Additionally, new demand, south of 12th Street necessitates <br />construction of 16 inch main along Commerce Avenue from 12th <br />Street to 10th Street. <br />ANALYSIS: <br />14aste-ler Moler Associates, Inc. have prepared a proposal for <br />engineering services consistent with their "Agreement for Profes- <br />sional Services dated April 24, 1986 totaling $15,000.00. <br />Masteller & Moler Associates, Inc. have also prepared estimates <br />of the construction costs for the 2800 feet of water main along <br />12th Street from Old Dixie Highway to 6th Avenue and the 1350 <br />feet of water main along Commerce Avenue from 12th Street to 10th <br />Street including all valves, hydrants and necessary appurtenances <br />totaling $195,000.00. <br />RECONMENDATIONS: <br />The Utilities Division recommends that the Board of County <br />Commissioners approve the proposed engineering services by <br />Masteller & Moler Associates, Inc. in the amount of $15,000.00 <br />and authorize the Utilities Division to solicit bids for the <br />subject construction estimated at $195,000.00. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED by Commis- <br />sioner Wodtke, the Board unanimously (4-0) approved <br />Work Author. #7 for engineering services by Masteller <br />& Moler Assoc, in the amount of $15,000 re 12th St. <br />Water Main, authorized the signature of the Vice Chair- <br />man, and authorized the Utilities Division to solicit <br />bids for the subject construction estimated at $195,000. <br />8 <br />
