THOMAS <br />VIA: TERRANCE PI <br />FROM: JEFFREY.BOONE� <br />SUBJECT: COMMERCE AVENUE AND 10TH STREET <br />FORCE MAIN <br />BACKGROUND: <br />DATE: JUNE 27, 1986 <br />The current demand on the existing force main along 12th <br />Street between US 1 and 6th Avenue in addition to <br />anticipated demand from new development along Indian River <br />Boulevard warrant the construction of a new force main from <br />12th Street to 10th Street along Commerce Avenue and <br />continuing east along 10th Street to the existing Waverly <br />Place lift station on 6th Avenue. The proposed force main <br />will eventually continue east on 10th Street from the <br />Waverly Place lift station to Indian River Boulevard and <br />continue north to the City of Vero Beach Wastewater <br />treatment plant. In addition to meeting current and future <br />demand, the proposed force main will make it possible to <br />eliminate the wastewater treatment plant at Janie Dean <br />Cheverolet. <br />AATAT.VCTC <br />Consistent with their "Agreement for Professional Services" <br />dated April 24, 1986 Masteller and Moler and Associates, <br />Inc. have prepared an initial budget estimate for <br />construction totalling $95,000.00 and have submitted a <br />proposal for engineering fees in the amount of $8,075.00. <br />Professional services include engineering design, <br />preparation of construction plans and specifications and bid <br />documents for the 3,000 linear feet of 8 inch PVC force <br />main. <br />RECOMMENDATION• <br />The Utilities Division recommends that the Board OF County <br />Commissioners approve the subject project with construction <br />costs estimated at $95,000.00 and authorize Masteller and <br />Moler Associates, Inc. to provide the above outlined <br />professional services at a cost of $8,075.00 <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Lyons, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bowman, the Board unanimously (4-0) <br />approved the construction of a force main at Commerce <br />Ave. and 10th St. at an estimated cost of $95,000 and <br />approved work authorization #7 with Masteller s Moler <br />for engineering services at a cost of $8,075.. <br />46 <br />
