AUG b 16 Bou 65 PAGE'353 <br />other stations, but Commissioner Bird doubted we would get many <br />other requests since they are the only local station. <br />General Services Director Dean advised that there is enough <br />room on the antenna so that he did not anticipate any problem at <br />this time. He did, however, have a concern about adding more guy <br />wires which could possibly cause a leak in the roof and would <br />want some assurances about that. <br />Discussion continued regarding allowing the use of the <br />antenna for other public purposes than just emergencies. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Lyons, the Board unanimously (4-0) agreed <br />to an amendment to allow WTVX the temporary expanded <br />use of the microwave antenna for coverage of the <br />upcoming September elections and then consider re- <br />negotiation of their agreement. <br />NEGOTIATE RE CENTRAL DISPATCH <br />Commissioner Lyons asked the Commission for permission to <br />negotiate with the Sheriff, the Fire Departments, etc., and.do <br />whatever else is necessary to set up an arrangement for central <br />dispatch out of the Sheriff's Department. <br />Commissioner Bird inquired if this would be out of the 911 <br />system, and that was confirmed. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Lyons, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously (4-0) <br />authorized staff to negotiate with the Sheriff <br />and Fire Departments, and do whatever else is <br />necessary to set up the system for central dispatch <br />out of the Sheriff's Department. <br />82 <br />
