10 1 <br />DISCUSSION RE CONTRACT FOR NEW COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR <br />Chairman Scurlock presented the proposed employment <br />agreement he would like to see offered to the new County <br />Administrator, Charles P. Balczun, with a few minor <br />modifications. <br />Attorney Vitunac wished to rewrite Item E to say: "This <br />Agreement shall be effective from Administrator's first day of <br />work in September, 1986 through September 30, 1988 and shall <br />remain in full force and effect thereafter for additional <br />one-year periods unless terminated. Either party may terminate <br />this Agreement at the end of the contract date by serving notice <br />of termination on the other not less than 180 days before the <br />termination date of the contract. The County may also terminate <br />Administrator at any time for conviction of a felony or other <br />crime involving moral turpitude or for gross or willful <br />dereliction of <br />duty. In this event <br />the <br />County <br />need not <br />pay <br />Administrator <br />compensation past his <br />last <br />day of <br />work. <br />In the <br />event County terminates the employment of Administrator for any <br />reason other than the aforesaid conviction or dereliction, then <br />County shall pay Administrator to the contract termination date <br />and in addition shall pay Administrator not less than one month's <br />pay plus one day's pay for each month worked, the total not to <br />exceed four months. <br />Commissioner Wodtke asked what salary the former <br />Administrator received, and was informed that Michael Wright was <br />making $57,470. <br />Chairman Scurlock advised that Mr. Balczun has requested a <br />starting salary of $58,500 and on October 1, 1986, he would <br />receive a raise and be locked in on the same kind of agreement <br />that we have with the County Attorney with respect to the annual <br />salary, which is not less than the other employees and the same <br />percentage of increase that the Board receives as determined by <br />the State Legislature.
