He felt it was time that the Commission <br />should have a report on the status of the situation and be <br />informed of the general plans, and also be asked to assist in <br />finding a way to expedite some of the equipment needed in order <br />to get the Fire Department dispatching going as quickly as <br />possible. <br />Sheriff Dobeck stressed that he was not before the Board to <br />ask for any money; he was just requesting that the County ask the <br />Finance Advisory Committee to do a study re the costs involved <br />for what is proposed. The Sheriff advised that Commissioner <br />Lyons requested he do a study of what would be the state of the <br />art for the County to move toward consolidation of communica- <br />tions. What he has is a result of meeting with Fire Chief Allen <br />of the South County Fire Department and Helen Baker, Andrew <br />Carlisle and Michael O'Grady from Indian River Memorial Hospital. <br />These paid services are in agreement with the need for central <br />dispatch, but in order for it to be state of the art and work <br />1000, it needs to be consolidated in one area. Since the <br />Sheriff's administration building will have 2500 sq, ft, in its <br />communications center, Commissioner Lyons has suggested that the <br />36 <br />
