This total number of units includes 1,369 vacation rental units, 431 apartment units, 3,153 <br /> motel units, 3,652 hotel units, and approximately 8,605 rooming houses and bed and breakfast units. <br /> In addition, the available recreational vehicle parks and recreational camps within the region were <br /> estimated at five establishments within 25 miles of the Project area (Gocampingamerica.com,2015). <br /> 3.2.8 Area Public Service and Utilities <br /> 3.2.8.1 Education <br /> Public education in Florida is operated on a countywide basis. Each county's respective school <br /> district establishes educational policies and staffing requirements. The Okeechobee County School <br /> District includes five elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school, and two alternative <br /> schools. Okeechobee County had a total student membership of 6,420 for the 2013-2014 school year <br /> (FLDOE, 2015).
