M M <br />within the community to raise some dollars towards the cost of <br />the center. <br />Commissioner Bird felt that the Board was saying that the <br />County may be willing to participate in a reasonable manner, <br />financially, in helping with the annual maintenance budget, and <br />hoped he was hearing that the County is willing to continue to <br />cooperate in this project in working with the School Board to <br />make the necessary transfer of the property so that they can <br />qualify for the $250,000 PECO funds. He agreed that we need to <br />do some more definitive work on what the total cost of the <br />building will be, and hoped that we are not talking about a <br />$200,000 shortfall here. <br />Architect Charles Block stated that the building was <br />expanded by 2400 square feet, but the $400,000 does not include <br />the impact fees or his architectural fees. <br />Chairman Scurlock felt that they should build what they can <br />afford to in the beginning and then expand at a later date. <br />Commissioners Lyons and Bowman agreed that they should not <br />build a project that costs more than they can obtain in advance. <br />Commissioner Bird hoped that representatives of the <br />Progressive League were planning on speaking this morning because <br />they are the ones who are going to have to work with the School <br />Board re the size of the building, the total cost, and the <br />possibility of coming -up with more contributions from the <br />community. <br />Commissioner Wodtke asked if the expansion area is going to <br />be used specifically for School Board purposes and whether the <br />School Board has approved any plans as yet. <br />Sam Hunter of the School Board advised that they have not <br />approved any plans as yet, but will be looking at a conceptual <br />plan at a meeting later this morning. They hoped that _in the _ <br />final analysis they will be able to identify and obtain funding <br />for a major portion of the total funds needed for the <br />construction of the building.
