Administrator Balczun suggested that a representative from <br />the Sheriff's Department be invited to attend the pre -agenda <br />staff meetings, and the Sheriff believed that would be a good <br />idea. <br />The Sheriff asked that the Board also review the total cost <br />of the computer equipment for the new facility. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously instructed <br />OMB Director Baird and Administrator Balczun to review <br />the total cost of the CCD system and bring their <br />recommendation for funding back to the Board in two <br />weeks. <br />Attorney Vitunac pointed out that nothing can be ordered by <br />a public agency unless there are funds legally available to pay <br />for it; therefore, if the County wants to order $1 -million plus <br />in equipment, it has to make a decision that the bonds will be <br />issued and start the ball rolling. <br />Chairman Scurlock advised that we are already moving ahead <br />on the bond issue in that they have decided not to refinance the <br />$9.85 million issue, and bond council is preparing in-ducement <br />resolutions. <br />Director Baird advised that they are refining the numbers <br />and they will be coming back to the Board with a cost breakdown <br />and a request for authorization from the Board to go out for <br />funding. <br />Architect Charles Block pointed out that some decisions <br />concerning the pouring of the slab and the installation of <br />conduit for the Administration Building must be made prior to the <br />decision on the overall costs, but Chairman Scurlock did not feel <br />that was a problem as he believed Administrator Balczun and <br />General Services Director Sonny Dean could identify the necessary <br />33 <br />BOOK 1)6 FAGS 496 <br />
