Civil Engineer <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />As a result of the Development of Ryanwood .Shopping Center, necessary <br />improvements to Kings Highway at SR 60 were needed. <br />In order to properly implement these improvements, engineering plans and <br />specifications for roadway widening and drainage ,improvements were prepared <br />by Avalon Engineering in coordination with the Engineering Division. These <br />plans were made available to all interested contractors in response to our <br />advertisement for bids placed in the Press Journal on November 12, 13, and <br />14, 1986. <br />A pre-bid conference was held on December 1, 1986 to answer specific <br />questions by any interested contractors on the plans and specifications. <br />Bids were received on Wednesday, December 3, 1986 as follows: <br />Company Bid <br />Guettler & Sons $432,728.62 <br />Ft. Pierce Contractors $429,009.20 <br />Dennis L. Smith, Inc. $441,361.47 <br />Dickerson of F1. $392,457.80 <br />Staffs Engineers Estimate for this project is approximately $399,949. <br />.RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />Staff reccmrends that the lowest responsible bidder Dickerson of Fl. be <br />considered to perform this work and that funds be appropriated in the <br />amount of $392,457.80 to cover the cost of this project. <br />Funding is to be from Impact Fees District 8 of $25,000, the Developer <br />required escrow of $74,933 and the balance from Gas Tax Revenue Fund 109. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Bowman, the Board unanimously awarded <br />the bid for improvements to Kings Highway at SR 60 <br />to the lowest responsible bidder, Dickerson of <br />Florida, in the amount of $392,457.80; the funding <br />to be as described above. <br />10 <br />
