2 0 "'6 <br />.SAN 87 <br />BOOK <br />a consistent basis, and he knew that some of our staff have had a <br />difficult time because of it. <br />Commissioner Bird informed the Board that on that particular <br />morning, just about everyone on staff they could muster was out <br />there and looked at where the building was staked out. It turned <br />out that where the maintenance building was staked out was <br />considerably east of where the entrance road Road & Bridge was <br />getting ready to build was going to terminate, and everyone on <br />site agreed it did not make sense to continue the road a consid- <br />erable additional distance and pay that additional cost and that <br />it did make sense to move the building accordingly. Commissioner <br />Bird stressed that no slab had been poured, and there were only <br />stakes in the ground. <br />Commissioner Eggert asked if the location was considerably , <br />different because someone made an error or because it was not <br />site planned adequately. <br />Mr. Block felt a lot of this occurs when the county takes on <br />a lot of requirements they are going to satisfy themselves, and <br />part of it was this road and part the drainage relating to it. <br />It also related to the area that was cleared. He reiterated that <br />essentially this was a decision made on the site. <br />Chairman Scurlock stressed that the decision being made on <br />the site is not the point. He noted that Mr. Block is a <br />professional and there are professional ways of doing things and <br />change orders are usually done in a formal way. <br />Commissioner Wheeler expressed his interest in seeing the <br />incoming bills re the cost of this move and determining who was <br />at error originally. <br />Mr. Block stated there was no error; staff wanted the <br />building in a Location other than where it was drawn. Commis- <br />sioner Eggert believed improper clearing also was a factor. <br />Question arose as to 50 parking spaces being eliminated, and <br />Mr. Block explained those parking spaces related to the clubhouse <br />not the maintenance building.
