Commissioner Bird felt that perhaps we can do the appraisal <br />in-house, and Intergovernmental Relations Director Thomas <br />believed Right -of -Way Agent Don Finney can do the preliminary <br />appraisal, and then, if necessary, we will go outside. <br />Commissioner Wheeler asked if this would in.any way affect <br />the swap of land for the recreational reverter for Winter Beach <br />Cemetery, and it was felt that it would have a positive affect. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION. <br />It was voted on and carried unanimously. <br />D. Old Landfill off Old Dixie <br />Chairman Scurlock commented that he has noticed that bikers <br />are using the old landfill area off Old Dixie; the weeds are <br />pretty high there and he felt it is a dangerous situation. He <br />believed this would be a nice location for a jogging type <br />facility and wondered if it would make.sense to clear and level <br />the land and put a jogging facility and naturetype trail there, <br />which he felt would not only provide additional recreation, but <br />also limit our liability. <br />Director Thomas advised that he investigated this during the <br />last year and there was some possibility of an exchange with Mr. <br />Mustapick. It appears there is about 8 acres that is not used; <br />some is leased for the towers. The big advantage is that you <br />have direct paved access already from 3rd and 2nd Streets by <br />putting in a couple hundred feet of paving, and it is not a high <br />traffic area.
