E 39, <br />sometime this week, but did not feel they would be negotiating <br />anything until after the Board approved the conceptual design. <br />Commissioner Bird felt we are ready to do that on Golden <br />Sands, but agreed that it is premature for the South County <br />Regional Park. He suggested that we give approval today to take <br />that step once the property is acquired. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Eggert, the Board unanimously approved <br />staff's recommendation subject to the land being <br />purchased for the South County Regional Park. <br />Commissioner Bowman questioned the $80,000 funds for the <br />Earman Park Improvements, and Director Davis advised that the <br />$40,000 matching funds would be coming trom the FIND grant, but <br />they are not sure that they will be spending all of the $80,000. <br />The improvements include some boat docks, nature trails, picnic <br />shelters, etc. The big question now is how to handle restroom <br />facilities, as there is no electricity on the island. We might <br />have to put some portable toilets over there, but that would mean <br />a weekly maintenance problem. How that problem is solved depends <br />on whether we spend $80,000 or $50,000. One option is to run <br />electricity to the island, but that might not be economically <br />feasible. <br />Commissioner Bowman just felt it was a lot of money, and <br />wanted to be sure where it is coming from and how it is to be <br />spent. She wished to know what they have decided to do before <br />they go ahead with building the nature trails. <br />N.
