Proclamation - Retired Senior Volunteer Day <br />P R_O C L A M A T I O N <br />WHEREAS, each year many retired senior- citizens of our <br />community and county volunteer countless hours of service in <br />order to help others; and <br />WHEREAS, the RETIRED SENIOR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM is founded on <br />dedication and a commitment to provide a variety of opportunities <br />for retired persons who are age 60 or more to participate more <br />fully in life through significant volunteer service; and <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County benefits greatly by the... <br />thousands of volunteer hours that senior citizens donate each <br />year; and • <br />WHEREAS, presently more than 40 non-profit organizations <br />and agencies have senior volunteers doing a number of challenging <br />and interesting volunteer -jobs in our community; and <br />WHEREAS, membership in the RETIRED SENIOR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM <br />is open to anyone age 60 or more who is willing to donate 5 hours <br />a week to volunteer service; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA That March 7th, <br />1987 be observed as <br />RETIRED SENIOR VOLUNTEER DAY IN INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />and the Board invites all citizens to honor our senior citizens <br />who contribute so unselfishly of their time and energy to <br />volunteerism. <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />BY C_ <br />DON C.
