Heideman <br />Staff Director <br />Assistant Attorney Jim Wilson reported that he attended a <br />closed meeting of law enforcement agencies in Ft. Pierce which <br />was called by Bruce Colton, and received a form to be filled out <br />as to whether or not Indian River County wishes to reappoint Dr. <br />Walker to another term as Medical Examiner. Every law <br />enforcement agency represented at that meeting, which included <br />every law enforcement agency in the circuit with the exception of <br />Felismere and Sebastian, unanimously stated that they did not <br />wish to retain Dr. Walker for another term. Attorney Wilson <br />asked for the Board's direction on this matter, because we have <br />to return the form by April 1st. <br />Attorney Vitunac noted that we also received a letter from <br />St. Lucie County stating that the other 3 counties in the <br />district have been subsidizing Indian River County's share of the <br />Medical Examiner's\budget and that they have directed the Medical <br />Examiner to cease that practice. This matter was going to be <br />scheduled for our next meeting, but a tragic boat accident over <br />the weekend has brought this to a head now. The following Miami <br />Herald newspaper article reports that Dr. Walker refused to run <br />certain blood tests on the victims because Indian River County <br />had gone over their budget, causing the Vero Beach Police Dept. <br />114 <br />MAR h� 1987 Boas b` �fa,,E 183 <br />
