MAR 2 4
1987
BOOK
67 F,A
-UF-716
Commissioner Bowman asked
if the reason for this
change
is
that it is outdoor manufacturing, and Richard Shearer, Chief of
Long -Range Planning, explained that they do have some outdoor
storage on the site, but the main reason is that they deal with
perlite, which is classified as "a mineral and earth ground or
otherwise treated", and that use is not allowed in the Light
Industrial District. It took staff a long time to go through the
SIC Code to find it, but they found a couple of other products
that are used in the building industry that was felt would be
appropriate in the IL District.
Chairman Scurlock opened the Public Hearing and asked if
anyone wished to be heard. There being none, the Chairman
declared the Public Hearing closed.
ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by
Commissioner Wheeler, the Board unanimously adopted
Ordinance 87-32, amending the Zoning Code; providing
for prohibition of outdoor manufacturing, assembly,
processing, and similar activities, and establishing
concrete block and bricks, concrete products, gypsum
products, and minerals and earths, ground or
otherwise treated as permitted uses.
67
