The rest is mainly owned by the state and the federal <br />government. <br />Chairman Scurlock inquired how much this would cost the <br />county. <br />Commissioner Wheeler stated that we have around 1,100' of <br />beachfront property within this project, or about $140,000. <br />Chairman Scurlock asked if it was intended this would be <br />budgeted in next year's budget, and Commissioner Wheeler <br />explained that the commitment is only if the City of Vero Beach <br />is successful in passing their ordinance, and they are involved <br />in a lawsuit right now that has some bearing on this. What the <br />Committee is talking about would be simply a commitment that if <br />the ordinance is passed and the assessments approved for that <br />project within the City of Vero Beach, that we will go along with <br />the project and support it for the county property involved. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Bird, the Board unanimously agreed to <br />commit to support the project as discussed and also <br />approved the hiring of a consultant to assist with <br />filling out the application to the DNR. <br />Chairman Scurlock informed the Board that while he always <br />had been led to believe that you could only bond half of the <br />Tourist Tax, he was recently informed that you actually can bond <br />the entire amount for certain purposes; however, you can only <br />bond half of it for beach nourishment. <br />LIBRARY ADVISORY COMMITTEE REPORT <br />Commissioner Eggert informed the Board that four and <br />possibly five library sites have been chosen in Vero Beach, and <br />based on desirability without regard to cost, they are as <br />follows: <br />94 <br />
