} III <br />the location of utility lines, water and sewer lines,lldump <br />stations, etc. It could save a lot of money if it is compatible <br />with what we want to do. <br />Mr. Nolte advised that he and his staff have done a lot of <br />research on this type of program, but he would be glad to look at <br />the maps used by Emergency Management. <br />Commissioner Wheeler asked how long it would take 'Ito work <br />this out with staff, and Mr. Nolte believed this is something <br />that should be worked out at budget time. He stated that his <br />office is willing to put a little bit of money into it, but asked <br />that the Board give conceptual approval today. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Wheeler, the Board unanimously approved - <br />the concept of the proposed program and authorized <br />Administrator Balczun and staff to work with the <br />Property Appraiser to prepare a more detailed <br />presentation to be made at budget time as to funding <br />alternatives and examples of how the program works. <br />Mr. Nolte advised that he would have the vendor who they <br />consider the best come in and give a detailed presentation to the <br />Board. <br />DISCUSSION RE MODIFICATION OF UTILITY DEPOSIT REQUIREMENTS <br />Chairman Scurlock explained that he placed this item on the <br />Agenda after talking with Mr. Deiters and several other <br />constituents, who object to the Utilities Dept.'s requirement for <br />an $80 deposit. People are questioning why it takes 30 months <br />to establish good credit and why their deposit is returned <br />without interest at the end of that time. He felt we need to <br />reevaluate our ordinance so that the County pays a minimum <br />interest fee.on the $80 deposits or have an earlier release of <br />37 BOOK C,.;cP� <br />MAY 2 6 IS87 <br />
