Orr,OP <br />REFERENCES: <br />Traffic Engineer <br />DESCRIPTION OF CONDITIONS <br />A study was conducted by staff in response to (1) traffic accidents at the <br />intersections of 43rd Avenue/8th Street and 43rd Avenue/26th Street, and <br />(2) complaints about speeding on 43rd Avenue between 4th Street and State <br />Road 60. <br />The subject report was presented to the Transportation Planning Committee <br />on May 13, 1987, which subsequently recommended approval. Various improve- <br />ments are recommended between 1987 and 2000 to increase safety and/or <br />capacity on 43rd Avenue and at major intersections. These improvements, <br />cost, staging and funding source are summarized in Table 3 (page 41) of the <br />subject report. <br />Projects recommended in the report to be added to the Transportation <br />Improvement Program during the current 1985-1990 stage are: <br />Traffic Signal 43rd Avenue/45th Street $30,000 <br />Left -turn Lanes 43rd Avenue/41st Street $130,000 <br />Traffic Signal 43rd Avenue/26th Street $30,000 <br />Traffic Signal 43rd. Avenue/12th Street $30,000 <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />(1) Approve the 43rd Avenue Traffic Operations Plan and add the <br />aforementioned four projects to the Transportation Improvement <br />Program. <br />(2) Select other roadway improvement projects to add to the Transporta- <br />tion Program. <br />(3) Do not approve the 43rd Avenue Traffic Operations Plan and do not add <br />projects to the Transportation Improvement Program. <br />RECON]N=ATION AND FUNDING <br />Alternative #1 is recommended to increase safety and/or capacity at the <br />four intersections.
