jUN 2 0 'ww <br />BOOK b P� H 652 <br />when all of the rights-of-way for Gloria Gardens subdivision were <br />abandoned, of which Palmetto Place is a part. <br />This unabandoned portion of Palmetto Place is surrounded on three <br />sides by land which is wholly owned by the petitioner and serves <br />no useful purpose to the public. The abandonment of this portion <br />will facilitate phase II of the petitioner's approved site plan to <br />construct contractor's trades facilities. <br />Per guidelines established by the Board of County Commissioners, <br />the petition was reviewed by all County divisions and utility <br />providers having jurisdiction within the right-of-way. All <br />reviewing agencies have recommended approval of the abandonment. <br />This portion of Palmetto Place has never been used, is not part of <br />the roadway system as noted on the County Thoroughfare Plan, and <br />is not needed for the thoroughfare system. The area of the <br />abandonment is currently being developed for commercial uses. <br />Abandonment of this right-of-way will not adversely affect access <br />or development of the area but will, in fact, facilitate proper <br />development of the area. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that the County abandon its rights to this <br />portion of Palmetto Place, and that the Chairman of the Board of <br />County Commissioners be authorized to execute the attached resolu- <br />tion (Attachment #3). <br />The Chairman asked if anyone present wished to be heard. <br />There were none, and the Chairman thereupon declared the hearing <br />closed. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Eggert, the Board unanimously approved <br />Resolution 87-58 abandoning that portion of <br />Palmetto Place south of Lot 13 and North of Lot 28 <br />in Gloria Gardens as requested by Stephen Bailey. <br />{ <br />58 <br />
