At the same time, we discussed <br />including the two county beach access points at the north end <br />of Indian River Shores within the corporate limits of the Town <br />for the same reasons. We plan to discuss this further at a <br />special meeting on June 4, 1987 at 9:00 A. M: You might wish <br />to pass this along to your commission to ascertain how they <br />would feel about requesting annexation of the above prop- <br />erties into the town. During a recent conversation with <br />Chairman Scurlock, I gathered that the County Commission <br />might be receptive to the idea. <br />Enjoyed our recent luncheon meeting. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, to approve the annexation proposed <br />by the Town of Indian River Shores west of SR A -1-A, <br />including Vera Cruz, Harbour Island Club, Pebble Bay <br />Estates, and Harbour Island Club Villas, and to look <br />into the annexation proposed east of SR A -1-A with the <br />knowledge that we have to work out park hours, dune <br />crossovers, access points, etc, with Indian River Shores. <br />In the ensuing discussion, Commissioner Bird asked if the <br />park is the only thing left on the east of A -1-A, and it was <br />noted there are also the two beach accesses; the F.I.T. property; <br />and a piece just north of the park abutting the residential area, <br />Commissioner Bird asked if we can clarify a bit more just <br />what the status of the park will be with the annexation. <br />Town Manager Dorsky stated that his recommendation to the <br />Town Council would be that the park is still the County's park <br />and the County will operate it, but it will be within the <br />corporate boundaries of the Town so the Town can assist with law <br />enforcement, opening and closing of the park, etc. He stated <br />they were not anticipating taking over the park. <br />Commissioner Eggert believed the Town could pass an <br />ordinance that would affect the park, but Mr. Dorskey felt the <br />Town's ordinance is identical to the County's relative to park <br />hours, etc. <br />County Attorney Vitunac noted that this relies on a good <br />will situation.
