Orr, <br />Traffic Engineer <br />DESCRIPTION OF CONDITIONS <br />A study of the subject intersection was conducted by staff in response to a <br />proposal to develop a child care facility south of the intersection. <br />The attached report was presented to the Transportation Planning-Ccmittee <br />on July 8, 1987, which subsequently recommended approval. <br />Improvements listed below are to increase safety and capacity <br />during the next twenty years. <br />Left -Turn Lanes - four approaches $130,300 <br />Traffic Signal 30,000 <br />Project Total $160,000 <br />ALTS ATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />(1) Approve the Intersection Study and add the aforementioned project to <br />the Transportation Improvement Program. <br />(2) Select other intersection improvements. - <br />(3) Do not approve the Intersection Study and do not add an improvement <br />project to the Transportation Improvement Program. <br />Alternative # 1 is _recannended to increase safety and capacity at 8th <br />Street and 20th Avenue. This project should be added to the group of four <br />intersections along 43rd Avenue previously approved for design and con- <br />struction. Paulding is available through Traffic Impact Fees and/or gaso- <br />line tax revenue. <br />Chairman Scurlock asked if we have to drop anything off our <br />priority list as a result of adding this intersection, and Public <br />Works Director Jim Davis advised that we would not. It might <br />affect our cash flow, however. <br />Commissioner Bowman asked if there was any other intersec- <br />tion that was more dangerous that should have a higher priority, <br />and Director Davis explained that this intersection was part of <br />the entire corridor plan. <br />10 <br />
