,AUG BOOK 69 <br />Chairman Scurlock wished to have Administrator Balczun serve <br />on this advisory board since he has been involved with the Search <br />Committee for the replacement of Dr. Walker, but apparently they <br />want a Commissioner to serve on this advisory board. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Wheeler, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Eggert, the Board unanimously (4-0) <br />approved the recommendation of Dr. Frederick P. Hobin <br />as Medical Examiner, and authorized the Chairman to <br />serve on the new District XIX Medical Examiner's <br />Advisory Board. <br />APPLICATION FOR C.A.R.L. FUNDS TO PURCHASE SAND RIDGE PROPERTY <br />Chairman Scurlock understood that the last time this was <br />discussed, the Board authorized staff to check into the <br />possibility of receiving the C.A.R.L. funds, but did not <br />authorize the actual application for funds to be used for the <br />specific purpose of purchasing the Mooney property on the sand <br />ridge. <br />Commissioner Eggert understood that the application does not <br />bind us to anything at this point. <br />Commissioner Bowman requested the board to authorize the <br />submittal of the application, because she believed the <br />application has been sent in already. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bowman, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Eggert, the Board unanimously (4-0) <br />authorized staff to apply for CARL funds to be used <br />in the purchase of the sand ridge property. <br />Chairman Scurlock understood that the canal does pose a <br />problem in terms of any utility use, and Director Pinto explained <br />28 <br />J <br />
