Balczun <br />County Administrator <br />THRU: Joe Baird, OMB Directo <br />It— <br />DATE: July 31, 1987 FILE: <br />SUBJECT: Agenda Item - -- <br />Application for Funding County <br />Emergency Services (EMS) Awards <br />�tj <br />FROM: DQug Wright REFERENCES: <br />Director, Emergency Management <br />Indian River County has been advised by HRS that $40,987 is available <br />to EMS Agencies in County Award Funds to improve or expand EMS activities <br />in the County. These funds were collected in the form of a surcharge <br />from court fines assessed during the past year. <br />As directed, I met with representatives of the BLS and ALS agencies on <br />July 24, 1987. At this meeting the above referenced agencies recommended <br />the expenditure of funds as is represented in the award application in <br />Part 5 - Proposed County Expenditure Plan. <br />It is respectfully recommended that the Chairman be authorized to sign <br />both original copies of application for County Award Funds if the <br />Commission approves the language and form of the application. <br />The award does not require any County funds as this is monies collected <br />in Indian River County being returned to us for improving or expanding <br />the pre -hospital emergency medical services. <br />HRS will prepare a contract and return it to the County for approval <br />prior to releasing the funds. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Bowman, the Board unanimously (4-0) <br />adopted Resolution 87-84 authorizing the Chairman <br />to sign the application for Funding County EMS <br />Awards to be submi.tt.ed to the DHRS. <br />(CONTRACT UNDER THE STATE EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES COUNTY AWARD <br />GRANTS PROGRAM IS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF CLERK TO THE BOARD) <br />28 <br />
