BOOK 1 69 <br />Chairman Scurlock asked what they get funded from the state <br />for each client, and Mr. Lang advised that it depends on the <br />extent of their disability. He believed the top of the scale if <br />$469 per month and it drops to $412. They would lose $12,000 to <br />$14,000 if they had to drop 2 clients. <br />Commissioner Eggert wished to know how much their operating <br />budget will be and how much of that would be covered by the state <br />with 8 people in the home, and Mr. Lang stated that the <br />deficiency between their operating budget and what the state <br />would pay is about 800. He stated that in this particular home <br />there would be 8 clients, but Board members indicated their <br />understanding was that the home would contain a total of 8 <br />residents, including parents. <br />Discussion continued as to whether the intent was 8 clients <br />plus parents or 6 clients plus 2 parents and continued on to <br />various combinations, i.e., 7 clients plus 1 parent. <br />Commissioner Eggert believed a home environment is stressed, <br />and while she realized we have one parent families, what:has <br />always been presented to her is that there will be a couple <br />there, which she felt will be more representative of a family <br />environment. <br />Mr. Lang noted that he mainly came before the Board to <br />assure people that the Association is very concerned about <br />property values and will be working to see they are maintained. <br />In fact, he assured the Board that the group home not only will <br />be a credit to the community, but they will make it a show place. <br />Marlene Kaiser informed the Board that she has been working <br />for the Department of Health 8 Rehabilitative Services here for <br />the last month and has been involved in setting up at least 10 <br />group homes in Montana, which had at least 8 clients and 2 <br />parents. Ms. Kaiser stressed that we are not talking about <br />putting 8 teenagers where each one has a car and will have all <br />kinds of friends coming nor 8 little children. We are only <br />talking about people with a little less intelligence, and they <br />28 <br />
