Also, the <br />property to be purchased is property that can become a very <br />important integral part of our utility system, and, therefore, <br />the cost will be absorbed into the total operating cost of our <br />system. Mr. Pinto noted that it is difficult to agree on a <br />__negotiated settlement when such threats and damaging statements <br />have been made, and the only reason he would recommend the <br />agreement and drop his personal lawsuit is for the benefit of the <br />county as a whole. <br />Commissioner Bird expressed his delight that this has been <br />worked out in this fashion and stated that as soon as he can go <br />over the agreement, he will give Attorney Vitunac his comments. <br />Chairman Scurlock believed one of the things that has not <br />gone for naught is that in response to the lawsuit, we have paid <br />for a lot of studies and analyses that will be a benefit to the <br />county in the future. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Eggert, the Board unanimously agreed they <br />have no objection to the concept of the agreement <br />proposed with Bent -Pine Utilities and authorized <br />staff to advertise the required public hearing. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS FROM FINANCE & UTILITY SUB -COMMITTEES RE <br />UNDERWRITER FOR NORTH COUNTY SPECIAL ASSESSMENT <br />Chairman Scurlock reminded the Board that we formed a <br />combination of the above two committees, and that committee was <br />composed of Mr. Balczun, Mr. Pinto, himself, OMB Director Joe <br />Baird, John Morrison, and Bill Jordan.
