He urged the Board to consider the traffic <br />situation in their decision. <br />Attorney O'Haire explained that the traffic is going to be <br />them regardless of whether or not this rezoning is granted. <br />Stor s are going to be built at the corner of SR -60 and Kings <br />Highway regardless of whether or not the node is expanded. All <br />they,are trying to do is cure a problem, not aggravate a problem <br />and that can be done by aligning the two entrances. He stressed <br />that,the traffic is not going to go away, and therefore, all we <br />can do is work on alleviating the situation that is there. The <br />350 -ft. buffer will be there, but all of these traffic consid- <br />erations are site plan considerations. Attorney O'Haire urged <br />the Board to consider a signal there because in time the stores <br />are doing to fill up, the property will be developed, and the <br />traffic situation will only get worse. <br />There being no others who wished to be heard, the Chairman <br />closed the Public Hearing. <br />Commissioner Eggert realized there were frustrations in this <br />situation, but very much felt that this alignment of entrances <br />should be made. However, she wished to see the Transportation <br />Planning Committee and Public Works take a took at the area <br />around 23rd and 24th streets because there seems to be an <br />exag era"ted problem since the changes have been made, and also <br />check to see if the signalization at SR -60 and Kings Highway is <br />the best it could be. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Wheeler, that the Board approve the <br />request to amend the Comprehensive Land Use Plan and <br />- adopt Ordinance 87-53, rezoning approximately 4.4 acres <br />from RM -6, Multiple -Family Residential to CG, General <br />Commerciaf, as requested by Development Partners, Inc. <br />Commissioner Wheeler asked how far north is the entrance to <br />Ryan*ood, and Public Works Director Jim Davis advised that the <br />2 9 <br />S EP BOOK 69 PAGE 290 <br />
