Authorization for Out -of -County Travel <br />r <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bowman, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Eggert, the Board unanimously (4-0) <br />approved out -of -county travel for Commissioners and <br />appropriate staff to attend the FACo 58th Annual <br />Conference & Educational Exposition being held at <br />Marco Island on October 7-9, 1987. <br />D. Davis, P.E., <br />lic Works Director <br />ROM L Williams <br />erintendent <br />Building & Grounds <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />DATE: August 26, 1987 FILE: <br />SUBJECT: Electronic Security System <br />Indian River County <br />Administration Building <br />REFERENCES: <br />An',Electroni.c Security System for the Administration Building was .budgeted <br />in'ithe Building & Grounds Division Budget in fiscal year 86-87. Staff has <br />investigated systems from two local major alarm conpanies, Guardian Systems <br />.r� Sonitrol of Vero Beach. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />Both System proposals will provide after hours security for the County's <br />portion of the Administration Complex. The Sonitrol System combines <br />standard door detectors with noise activated microphones to monitor the <br />building, i.e. breaking glass activates the microphones and the central <br />station monitoring will then listen and notify proper authorities, if <br />required. Access codes for building entry will be assigned to key employ- <br />ees (this is limited to approximately 40 persons). Installed cost for this <br />system $6,974.00, monitoring monthly $130. <br />The! Guardian System combines door detectors with motion detectors which <br />will sense motion in the main hallways of the building, i.e. motion of an <br />intruder sets off the"alarm, the central monitoring station notifies the <br />proper authorities.
