Balczun DATE: August 21, 1987 FILE: <br />County Administrator <br />THRU: Joe Baird <br />OMB Manager p <br />Sharon Brennen Phillips SUBJECT: 1987-88 Radiological• _ <br />Assistant County Attorney <br />Emergency Preparedness - <br />Agreement _ <br />1 <br />FROM: Doug Wrights, Director REFERENCES: FP&L Contract Negotiations <br />Emergency Management July 17, 1987 - Tallahassee <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Pursuant to negotiations in Tallahassee on July 17, 1987, 'the _ <br />attached 19.87-88 Radiological Emergency Preparedness Agreement <br />is submitted for your review and approval:- The funding will enable <br />Indian River County to carry out its responsibilities in complying <br />with 10 CFR Parts 50 and 70 and NUREG 0654. Intense negotiations <br />resulted in an allocation of $33,088 for Indian River County. <br />Indian River County is authorized in Section 252.37, Florida Statutes, <br />to enter into and -participate in cooperative relationships. The <br />funds will be utilized for purposes as reflected in Exhibit "A" and <br />"B" of the contract. The Scope of Work (Exhibit B) details the <br />planned expenditures. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Due to the proximity of the St. Lucie Nuclear Power Plant to Indian <br />River County, staff recommends execution of the Radiological Emer- <br />gency Preparedness Agreement. The funds will assist Indian River <br />County in efforts to prepare an-& plan 'for any contingency related _ <br />to possible emergencies associated with the nuclear plant. _ <br />Commissioner Eggert asked who would be doing this, and Doug <br />Wright, Director of Emergency Management, explained that <br />Emergency Management has done it in the past. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously (3-0) <br />approved the Radiological Emergency Preparedness <br />Agreement and authorized the Chairman's signature. <br />COPY OF AGREEMENT IS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK TO THE <br />29 <br />SEP 2 2.1987 - BOOK ` 69 uu 513 <br />
