SEP 2 2 1957 BooK 69 FacE 546 <br />DISCUSSION ON RESCHEDULING OF ROSE -4 PUBLIC HEARING <br />Vice Chairman Bowman advised of the difficulties in the <br />sound system in the Sebastian Community Center, and Liz Forlani, <br />Administrative Assistant to the Board of County Commissioners, <br />advised that if the Board feels that location would be <br />inconvenient, she would reschedule the meeting at the Sebastian <br />City Hall for either October 29th or November 18th. <br />The Board decided to leave the meeting as scheduled for <br />October 14th at 7:30 P.M. <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMITTEE REPORT <br />Commissioner Bird reported that the Committee recommended <br />that the County Commission continue to work toward the sale of <br />the property adjacent to the Tracking Station Park and the <br />surplus property at 5th Street, S.W. and 43rd Avenue, and <br />continue with the purchase of the South County Park property on <br />20th Avenue and Oslo Road. <br />Commissioner Bird reported that Douglas Upton appeared <br />before the Committee to request that a remote control car race <br />track be constructed at the Fairgrounds location. Mr. Upton said <br />that if the County will provide the space, he can get contractors <br />to donate the material to construct the track. The applicants <br />were advised to bring back a scaled drawing that can be given to <br />the consultant to see if it could be worked into the master plan <br />of the Fairgrounds. The Committee preliminarily endorsed the <br />activity as something that would be good recreation, and will be <br />bringing the matter back to the Board when they receive a more <br />detailed plan. <br />The Committee also received a request from David Palmer, a <br />high school junior, for some skateboard ramps to be provided <br />somewhere in the county so that serious skaters would have a <br />62 <br />
