Brescia, P.E. <br />County Engineer <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />SUBJECT: Rings Highway & Route 60 <br />Widening Project <br />Final Pay Request <br />REFERENCES: <br />The intersection of Rings Highway and State Route 60 has recently <br />been reconstructed in terms of widening, signalization, pavement <br />markings, channelization signing, and drainage. _ <br />This project has been monitored and inspected during construction <br />and has been final inspected and accepted by staff. <br />The original cost of the project plus the Board approved change <br />orders totaled $395,332.80. The final cost of the project based upon <br />the actual material placed totaled $444,429.32, a difference of <br />$51,971.52. <br />The difference in cost is based upon several factors: <br />1. The original quantity take off of certain items as performed by <br />the consulting enginering .firm was incorrectly determined from <br />the specification drawings. <br />2. Sub surface field conditions required the removal of large <br />quantities of unstable and undesirable material on almost the <br />entire length of the project. This resulted in a significant <br />difference in subbase -and base material. <br />30 <br />
