Capital Improvements to County Parks <br />The Committee made the following recommendations prioritized in <br />the following order: <br />1. Complete restrooms at Dale Wimbrow Park $ 6,000 <br />2. Provide power to Tennis Ct. area and <br />Lighting at Tennis Court at Gifford Park 17,000 <br />3. Ball field improvements, West Wabasso Park 5,000 <br />4. Restroom improvements, Blue Cypress Lake Park 10,000 <br />5. Press box/concession building, Gifford Park 10,000 <br />6. Fill for Joe Earman Park 5,000 <br />7. Parking lot paving, Wabasso Beach Park 6,000 <br />TOTAL $59,000 <br />CONSTRUCTION OF DOCK NORTH OF FELLSMERE ON FARM 13 <br />Committee agreed with the doncept of using Boating Improvement <br />Funds to construct a dock on Farm 13, the property that -is being <br />flooded for water containment by St. Johns River Water Mgt. Dist. <br />After a brief discussion regarding the policy of having <br />concessions within the County parks, Commissioner Bird suggested <br />that the Board approve the Orchid Isle Sports request today, and <br />wait until further study is done before setting policy on <br />allowing concessions in other County parks. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bowman, the Board, by a vote of <br />4-1 (Commissioner Wheeler dissenting), approved <br />a one-year, exclusive lease with Orchid Isle Sports <br />for a concession at Wabasso Beach Park, and agreed <br />to wait until the policy study is complete before <br />considering any other requests for concessions. <br />(Agreement on file in office of Clerk to to the Board) <br />Chairman Scurlock wanted to see the Parks & Recreation <br />Committee consider the possibility of building a jogging trail at <br />the old landfill site on Old Dixie Highway at 1st Street S.W. and <br />cut the weeds down in there before some biker gets killed. <br />Commissioner Bowman wished to replace #1 in the priori- <br />tization. fist, Dale Wimbrow Park, with Blue Cypress Lake Park, <br />'but Commissioner Bird stated that we have enough money in the <br />account to do both. <br />DEC 15 1987 41 BOOK 70 uu 376 <br />
