FEB d 68t <br />BOOK 70 06E 896 <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Bowman, the Board unanimously adopted <br />Resolution 88-14 requesting financial assistance <br />from Florida Inland Navigation District in the <br />amount of 25% of the cost of the Pelican Audubon <br />Society Environmental Learning Center. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 88-14 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, TO THE FLORIDA <br />INLAND NAVIGATION DISTRICT REQUESTING GRANT <br />ASSISTANCE UNDER THE GRANT ASSISTANCE TO LOCAL <br />GOVERNMENTS PROGRAM FOR THE PELICAN ISLAND AUDUBON <br />SOCIETY ENVIRONMENTAL LEARNING CENTER. <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian <br />River County, Florida (BOARD), is interested in carrying out <br />the Pelican Audubon Society Environmental Learning Center <br />project at a total estimated cost of $2,000,000 for the <br />enjoyment of the citizenry of Indian River County and the <br />State of Florida; and <br />WHEREAS, the Center will provide a hands-on <br />environmental education program facility consisting of two <br />classroom laboratories, exhibit room, meeting room, boats, <br />offices, library, trails, boardwalks, dock, boathouse, and <br />other features enabling County educators to teach <br />environmental sciences to County school students and through <br />adult education programs; and <br />WHEREAS, Florida Inland Navigation District (DISTRICT) <br />financial assistance is required for the program mentioned <br />above; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the <br />project described above be authorized. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the said BOARD makes <br />application to the Florida Inland Navigation District in the <br />amount of % of the actual cost of the project in behalf <br />of said Environmental Learning Center. <br />78 <br />
